| It's been quite some time since I posted last on here... In fact, it took me a bit of time to figure out exactly how to get an entry started!
Life has been extremely busy. Since my last post I've moved from New Orleans to Kalamazoo, Michigan. I now live in a house I've often dreamed of, a cabin in the middle of many acres of woodland. The winters are harsh, and the summers are very mild. It'll take some time to get used to having to deal with snow again, but for now I'm enjoying the mid-70's weather in the summer, and the fireflies at night. Summer is by far my favorite season.
My photography business is getting a foothold in Michigan. I've already had six shoots so far to build my local portfolio. Now I just need to find the time to get all the photo processing done!
For the curious, my photography site can be found here:

| Got back home around 9am this morning. Surveyed the damage. I haven't gotten up onto the roof yet, or into the attic. From my initial examination, though, it seems that the only damage is that the back garage is missing half of a shingle. The house itself is missing a small section of eave in one of the corners of the roof. Nothing big at all. I doubt it'll cost more than a few dollars to do repairs unless there is damage I haven't noticed yet.
There isn't any power, but the water is fine. The family is on the way back. We should be good to go assuming we can weather the Louisiana summer without AC!

| We all made it to Baton Rouge. Things are going well so far. The power went out for a few minutes, 'tis all. The worst is yet to come, however. My house, closer to the storm, reported a power outage at 7:15am. The hurricane was downgraded to a category 2, so that's really good news. It makes me more hopeful that my house will still be there.

| Well, we're packing up to leave. Looks like this storm could be quite deadly. We're heading to Baton Rouge to stay with friends. BR is going to be hit hard too, but it shouldn't have storm surge problems. I'm sure power will go out early on, and there will be a lot of wind damage. It's the flooding that's of most concern, and where I live has considerably more risk of that.
Until next time, true believers.
